What to eat on a gastritis-diet

There are some foods that may help manage your gastritis (a.k.a. acid reflux)  and lessen the symptoms. These include:

  • high-fiber foods: apples, oatmeal, broccoli, carrots, and beans
  • low-fat foods: fish, chicken, and turkey breast
  • foods with low acidity, are more alkaline, like vegetables, yogurt
  • drinks that are NOT carbonated
  • drinks without caffeine.

Foods to avoid on a gastritis diet

Some foods that may cause irritation are listed below:

  • alcohol
  • coffee
  • acidic foods like tomatoes and some fruits
  • fruit juice
  • fatty foods
  • fried foods
  • carbonated drinks
  • spicy foods
  • allergenic or symptomatic foods

Gastritis diet with an ulcer

A healthy diet with foods full of vitamins make it easier for the ulcer to heal.

You may also talk with your doctor about eliminating milk from your diet even if it seems to reduce your ulcer pain. It may actually make the pain worse later.
